Summer Workout Tips

The days are longer and the temperatures keep climbing higher and higher. The dog days of summer are here! At HHHunt Apartment Living, we believe wellness matters and strive to provide our residents with amenities that promote healthy living year-round. Like many of our residents, we also enjoy exercising outdoors during the warmer months of the year. Working out in the summer heat can seem daunting and even dangerous, but don’t fret because we’ve pulled together the top summer workout tips from our team members.

Exercising during hot summer months can be incredibly rewarding and refreshing. It just takes a little extra planning. Here are three tips on how to maximize your summer workout:

Stay Hydrated

Whether you’re working out indoors or outdoors, you should drink plenty of fluids to replenish the electrolytes and salt you’ll lose while being active. Drink one to two glasses of water before, drink water every 15 minutes during, and one to two glasses after your activity. Don’t forget to stay hydrated throughout the day as well.

Timing Is Everything

Outdoor fitness is still enjoyable in the summer! Try scheduling your outdoor activities outside of 10 am to 5 pm, when temperatures are at their highest. You’ll find cooler temperatures during the early morning and closer to sunset. Many of our communities boast green space where you can practice yoga, walk or jog, and more. When you’re ready to cool off, consider reserving a time to take a dip in our refreshing pool!

Update Your Fitness Wardrobe

Having the right equipment and clothing can make your workout much more enjoyable, especially in the summer heat. If you’re workout gear is getting old or you use a lot of cotton-based clothes when exercising, consider investing in new workout clothes. Wicking attire is an absolute must. The lightweight and breathable fabric will help pull moisture away from your skin and keep you cooler.
