At HHHunt Apartment Living, we understand that pets are a part of our families. We love seeing pets in our communities and are proud that all our communities offer pet friendly apartments!
What’s not to love about these four-legged friends? They brighten our days and give so much love!
If you have a pet and are searching for a new home, you might think it’s an uphill struggle because some communities don’t offer pet friendly apartments. It doesn’t have to be so challenging, though. Don’t worry because we’re here to help by sharing the top five search tips for finding pet-friendly apartments.
Research Your Options
You may find an apartment you absolutely love, but they don’t allow pets or the type of pet you have. Prior to your apartment hunt, do a quick online search for “pet friendly apartment” or “pet friendly rental” in your desired locations. Also, don’t forget to check a community’s website first for details about pet policies and if they offer pet friendly apartments.
Demonstrate Your Responsible Behavior
Showing the leasing or management team that both you and your pet are responsible can go a long way. If you’ve lived in an apartment with a pet before, ask your previous community for a letter of recommendation. It’s also helpful to show that your pet is up-to-date on their vaccinations. Have you and your pet attended training classes? That’s great information to share as well.
Consider the Floor Plan
As you tour various apartments, pay close attention to how you and your pet will live in the home. Is there enough room for you and your pet(s)? Does the layout allow you and your pet to have separate spaces? Will your pet be safe and comfortable when you’re not at home? An important consideration when looking for pet friendly apartments is how the floor plan is designed and flows.
Look for Pet Amenities
When searching for apartment communities, make sure you ask about any specific amenities for pets. A community may offer pet friendly apartments, but do they also have a dog park or walking trails? All our communities offer pet amenities, such as a dog park or pet spa.
Register Your Pet
When searching for a pet-friendly apartment, make sure to read the pet policy and ask about any additional fees. When preparing to move in, chat with the leasing or management office about properly registering your pet at the community. We love getting to know all the pets at our community!
Good luck searching for pet friendly apartments and don’t forget to check our website for available apartment homes in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
