Meet Our People: LaCole Gadson

We have an incredible team and enjoy highlighting their experience and role with HHHunt Apartment Living. Today, we’d like to introduce you to LaCole Gadson, our Senior Regional Property Manager. She supervises all of HHHunt’s apartment communities in South Carolina. LaCole joined HHHunt in 2010 as a Community Manager for Abberly Village in Columbia, SC. She was honored by HHHunt in 2013 as the Community Manager of the Year and received the Lateral Service Award in 2015.

During much of LaCole’s career, she was involved with the Apartment Association of Greater Columbia (AAGC). She chaired the program and education committee for numerous years and taught several courses as well. LaCole served three terms as a member of the AAGC Board of Directors, most recently serving as Secretary for the 2017 term. She received the AAGC’s 2004 Direct Member of the Year Award, 2007 and 2008 Educator of the Year Award and 2012 Property Manager of the Year award.

We caught up with LaCole recently and talked with her about her role, advice for apartment management professionals, and more.

Q: You are a Senior Regional Property Manager. What does this role entail?

As a Senior Regional Property Manager, I have a team of Community Managers that I engage with and support in daily operations to achieve success at our communities. I love working with my team and helping them reach their goals.

Q: Tell us about your career. What roles have you held in the apartment living industry?

I have been in the apartment management business for 22 years. I began my career as a Leasing Consultant. I then moved from that position to Assistant Manager then Property Manager in my first 10 months in the industry. I have worked for a few different companies, but I am very proud to have called HHHunt home for the last 10 years! I started at HHHunt as the manager of Abberly Village when it was a new, lease-up community. I was at Abberly Village for five years before moving into a regional position. I have also instructed classes for the Apartment Association of Greater Columbia as well as HHHunt through the years.

Q: What’s the top lesson or best practice you want to share with leasing professionals and community managers in 2020?

While property management is very rewarding, there are days or times when it can be stressful. Don’t let these occurrences ruin the journey; shake it off and keep moving. There is always a solution and there is always a rainbow!

Q: What advice do you have for someone searching for a new apartment?

Of course, when searching for a new apartment you want the highest quality and most desirable features available in your budget. However, don’t forget to consider the team managing the apartment community… the place you want to be your home. I believe the most important aspect is the team managing the property. If they show passion in how the community is maintained as well as in their interactions with you, you know you will be taken care of and they will address your needs.

Q: HHHunt Apartment Living believes that it’s How You Live that matters. What does this philosophy mean to you?

This phrase is all encompassing from residents to employees and from work to home. We are not just saying live your life, but live with meaning and quality. Enjoy life, enjoy work, enjoy your home. These things matter when looking for quality and HHHunt provides that. It’s part of our mission and who we are.
